ENTRY FOUR

Nothing very relevant to the main plot happened during this part of the reading. Michener did have the main character Jared Starr go over how one of his relatives Emily Starr's life and he significance to the story and to the United States of America. Sadly she has none and it was a very boring section to read in general. My two Glogsters® are about the main character Jared and the Iran Contra, which has come up numerous times in the book and has proved to be the main plot of the whole story. The one about Jared basically sums up his life and how he is so important in this story. The whole layout in general is supposed to resemble how patriotic he is and how he would do anything for his country. I mostly showed this with the colors, backgrounds, and pictures. The next golgster which is about the Iran-Contra is meant to be more strait forward and informational. It is a basic layout of what the Iran-Contra is and it has some interesting facts about it. To learn more about this historical event refer back to ENRTY THREE and read the link. Overall this section of the book was the dullest thus far and I am really starting to hope the rest of the book is not like this or I will not be able to keep my eyes open.

  1. I enjoy your honesty about your dislike for the book, and how you think it is very dull. I think too often in situations like this we say that we liked the book because we think we should. I know when you got this book you seemed really excited about it. It would appear that your expectations have not been met. What did you think the book was going to be like? I know in your first post you were saying that you thought it would be about his life in the early 20th century, and that has not bee the case. Have you gotten any more information about his involvement in Iran-Contra? I think the overall concept of the book sounds interesting, and it is probably very thought based rather than action based. I personally, like that, but I know that it can be pretty dull a lot of the time. Good luck on your last section!

  2. It seems like the main character of your book is under the impression that since he is willing to do anything for the US, he should not be punished for it. The book does seem very one note by your descriptions. At the beginning it sounded like the book was going to focus on different questionable decisions the main character made but instead it only focused on one. I wonder if the whole book was to show how people look at their decisions from how it affected people rather than looking to see if their actions were illegal or not. The book sounds very biased and maybe if you focused on that and judged the character it would become more interesting.
